We recently added the awesome Botana CBD Spagyric Tincture to our store. Now, we are super excited to announce that we are extending our CBD stock, and have their Salves in both White Fir and Frankincense too!
Many of you will be familiar with Dr Morse’s Salves, particularly his ever popular Healing Salve. So, how do these CBD salves compare? Let’s first examine just why these salves are so powerful, and what they can do for you.
What is a CBD Salve?
Topical cannabis preparations have actually been used for millennia, and have been linked to ancient Egypt and Europe, where they were used for their antiseptic, antibiotic and pain-relieving properties to treat bacterial infections, skin infections, foot inflammation and localized pain. Unfortunately, our modern society has a habit of shunning the herbal traditions of our forefathers, but as medical marijuana’s popularity is increasing, so we are now seeing topical applications resurface.
Most people use CBD salves to receive the therapeutic benefits of cannabis, without the psychoactive side effect that is found in other methods of delivery. In fact, our CBD salves contain less than the required 0.3% legal limit of THC.
CBD salves are used for localized pain relief, muscle soreness, tension, and inflammation. When the salve is rubbed into the skin directly, it can treat conditions directly below the skin. For example, those who suffer from arthritis, can apply the cream directly to affected areas to reduce swelling.
What Can a CBD Salve Help Me With?
There is a very wide variety of conditions that can be treated by CBD Salves, here are a few:
- Skin conditions including: Eczema, psoriasis, rashes, fungal infections and blisters.
- Faster healing of wounds, cuts, scrapes and bruises.
- Chronic pain
- Muscle spasms
- Localized joint pain, arthritis pain, muscle soreness, sprains and other mild injuries.
- Menstrual cramps
Now, let’s examine the ingredients of each of our CBD salves. If you’re anything like me, you love knowing exactly what is in each product. This is especially important when it comes to topical treatments, as you are applying it with the intention of it being absorbed into your bloodstream!
The White Fir CBD Salve contains:
- Shea butter
- Coconut Oil
- Apricot Kernel Oil
- Organic Hemp
- Grapeseed Oil
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Peppermint Essential Oil
- White Fir Essential Oil
And it is verified to contain 100 mg or 200 mg (depending on which strength you choose) CBD by third party lab.
As a ‘Tree Oil’ White Fir has a grounding effect on the user. It promotes calmness and stability with a clean, crisp aroma that is reminiscent of a wooded forest. It has the power to soothe skin, reduce stress and uplift the atmosphere.
The Extra Strength CBD Salve with Frankincense contains:
- Shea Butter
- Grapeseed Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Organic Hemp (Cannabis Sativa)
- Apricot Kernel Oil
- Comfrey Leaf
- Essential Oils of Lavender, Peppermint, White Fir, Frankincense & Roman Chamomile.
And, of course, 250, 500 or 1000 mg of CBD, which has been verified by a third party lab.
Frankincense is considered the ‘King’ of Essential Oils, and rightly so. This powerful essential oil is revered for its ability to beautify and rejuvenate the skin. It has the ability to strengthen and improve its tone, elasticity, defense mechanisms against bacteria or blemishes. It helps to reduce the appearance of scars and acne, and heals wounds.
Another one of the reasons why we love Botana’s CBD products is because the hemp grown to create these salves (and the tincture) was grown by a Dr Morse student. It is grown organically in the high desert fruit belt of Paonia, Colorado. Organic means no pesticides or chemicals, and this is rigorously controlled. They not only test their soil, but also their hemp at several independent labs, to maintain a high level of quality control. You can read more about how it is grown here.
How Do I Apply a CBD Salve?
First wash the area with soap and water to remove any excess dirt, oil buildup, or previously applied lotions or creams. Doing so will ensure that there aren’t any barriers between the ointment and your skin, and will create the best environment for absorption.
For adults, generously rub the ointment onto the affected area and allow it to absorb for several minutes before covering with clothing and/or bandages so it doesn’t rub off. Be sure to watch the area for bad reactions like itchiness, redness, soreness, rashes or bumps.
For children and the elderly, their skin is naturally thinner, so apply smaller amounts.
Once applied, the Salve can take anywhere from 1-48 hours to provide relief, depending on the dosage, how often it’s used, and severity of your condition.
